Artificial Intelligence and Philosophy

A presentation titled 'Artificial Intelligence and Philosophy' was held at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Conference Hall on 19.12.2024. Research Assistant from the Philosophy Department of our Faculty, Dr. Ümit TAŞTAN discussed the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities of artificial intelligence within the framework of computational theory. He then shared his argument that artificial intelligence cannot have the same creativity as the human mind, in terms of its current capabilities. He stated that, based on Kant, the human mind has a practical use and that thanks to this use, scientific discoveries that have not been solved before are possible. He concluded his presentation by stating that the practical use of the human mind has the function of thinking the way to the solution of a problem and that this function creates a difference in terms of the functioning of artificial intelligence.
